Hola!
My name is Bo Brand. I have been on the past six OCHO trips and in January I became the administrative assistant for OCHO. I wanted to write a blog post to give you all an inside look into what I do and how OCHO works behind the scenes.
My year began with making arrangements for the 2020 OCHO brigade. I was working on buying the plane tickets to Honduras, arranging travel insurance, and getting a shipping container for the equipment that was to be sent down. My main duties were managing and distributing information for OCHO. I began attending the OCHO board meetings to learn about how they were organized and run. I started attending the board meetings regularly to take the minutes of the meeting. However, in March the trip was postponed due to COVID-19. OCHO’s focus and my role as the administrative assistant slightly shifted in response to COVID-19. All of our meetings were shifted to Zoom. We began to collect resources about COVID-19 and safety procedures that could be shared with our friends in Honduras. We have made a telehealth website that will be a hub for resources in both English and Spanish. There will be information about nutrition, physical therapy, developmental pediatrics, occupational therapy, COVID-19 resources, etc. Recently, the board and I have begun to update the OCHO website information to make it more current and relevant. I am excited to continue working with OCHO as it continues to evolve. I would like to personally thank those of you who support OCHO, my position as an administrative assistant would not be possible without you! If you would like to donate and support the growth of our organization you can do so here: https://www.ocho.org/donate-1
